The Donald M. Ephraim Sun & Stars International Film Festival, presented by MorseLife to screen February 27 – March 10
Residents at The Levin Palace enjoy movies in our very own movie theater, and early next year, MorseLife will bring the best in cinema to Palm Beach with The Donald M. Ephraim Sun & Stars International Film Festival founded by Donald M. Ephraim.
Organizers have announced that the Festival, which promises to be a highlight of next year’s cultural and social seasons, will screen from February 27 to March 5 at the Rinker Playhouse at the Kravis Center and March 8 to 10 at the Paragon Theaters in Delray Beach.
The inaugural Festival, which took place in 2023, has now been renamed to convey the excitement of Palm Beach’s iconic location and the thrill of audience interaction more accurately with film creators. In addition, the Festival organizers have named film expert Barbara Scharres as artistic director.
Since retiring from her role as Director of Programming at the Gene Siskel Film Center, formerly The Film Center of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she served in various positions for 45 years, Scharres currently works as a Chicago-based freelance journalist and consultant to filmmakers and film distributors.
Scharres is a film scholar, writer, and lecturer who has published feature articles in criticism in film magazines and journals, including Film Comment, American Cinematographer, Chicago Reader, Variety, The Independent, Chicago Sun-Times, and www.RogerEbert.com, an outlet for which she has contributed extensive coverage of the Cannes Film Festival for more than twenty years.
